Torrents are small files that give you the details required to connect to a torrent tracker (the server to control the peers). Once the torrent is download it should be opened in your torrent program to begin the download.

Getting Torrent Files on WarezNET

To get your links you should either search, browse the torrent forum or browse WNTorrents. Torrent topics in WarezNET will have the icon34.gif icon next to them. These topics will have direct torrents from WNTorrents. Simply download the file then open it in your torrent client.


Downloading from Torrents

Beginners Guide

  1. Find a torrent client that will suit your needs, two choices are uTorrent and Azureus. Read more about the clients here.
  2. Follow the instructions on downloading and installing the said client.
  3. Find your Torrent file and download it. Usually, the web browser's file download manager will ask what to do with this file. You want to open the file with your torrent program.
  4. If it doesn't open that way, just save the .Torrent file to an easy to locate place. Then open your torrent client and use the "Open Torrent" feature.
  5. The download will start automatically. You may now go and do something to pass the time, because torrents do not require much intervention on your part.
  6. After the file is downloaded, leave it open in the program to share with other people who are also trying to get the same file out of respect. This way the P2P community stays alive.

Download Tips

  • If the download isn't complete when you need to turn the PC off, just exit your torrent client and turn off the PC. Most torrent programs start the download process automatically when you restart them. If not, then there should be an option to start downloading, by either right clicking on the file and choose "Start" or a button somewhere in the program.
  • When looking for torrent files, try to find ones with plenty of Seeders.
  • Seeders: People who have file complete and are sharing.
  • Leechers: People who are downloading and have some of the file for sharing, but not all of it.
  • Port forwarding can improve your download speed.

Warnings

  • Downloading torrents can slow your computer down depending it's processor speed, HD, and RAM.
  • Keep your anti-virus program and its definitions fully up-to-date, downloaded software from 'sharing' sources is high risk for infections.
  • It can slow down your Internet connection when downloading. Most Bittorrent programs have a setting where you can adjust how fast you Download/Upload and uTorrent has a recommended setting depending on your speed.


Torrent Clients

The most common clients are µTorrent and Azureus but there are other perfectly good clients.

µTorrent

µTorrent (also microTorrent or uTorrent) is the most popular Windows client because it has a large number of features but is also fast and lightweight on computer resources. You can download µTorrent here.

Azureus

Azureus is a Java based client with a large number of features and available on a number of platforms. Azureus can be downloaded here.

Where do I find torrent files?

The first place to check is the torrent forum. There are a number of search engines to get publicly available torrents. One that searches the majority for you is YouTorrent. Usually for quicker and more reliable downloads you will need to be a member of a private tracker community, like WNTorrents.


Connection problems

There can be a number of problems when downloading. You may need to check it's not blocked by your firewall or network. Some ISPs or networks may block torrents altogether, so we suggest you talk your ISP to get the problem fixed.
