The mods and most of the contributors are glad to help and share (Leeches never do anything ) – but after answering the same question 400 times (ok I might exaggerate a bit) it becomes difficult to find the enthusiasm to write the same reply 401, especially when the answer is there in an earlier (or lots of) posts. Ace
This is a file compression format created by the program WinAce, one of many growing formats on the net. WinAce claims better compression ratios, ease of use etc, but then they all do. Ace files can usually be opened by most of the other compressors like WinRar or the newer version 9 of WinZip. A copy of the WinAce program can be found in the Applications forum.
Alcohol 120%
This is one of the best examples of CD / DVD emulation and burning software. Used to copy BIN ISO and protected CDs. Also sets up a virtual drive on your machine which can be used to run cue/bin files as if the CD was physically present. Avi
AVI is a file format used mainly to store multimedia files; Video, Audio, Movie etc. There are a number of apps available for working with avi files including converting them to different formats.

Bin
A bin file is a CD Image file (Like an ISO) but in a different file format. It is an Image of a CD. You can upload or download them. Think of it as a box of books you download the box containing the books (files) and use your CD writer (or virtual CD app) to unpack and organise them into a bookcase. (The new burned CD)
BitTorent
BitTorrent is a protocol designed for transferring files. It is peer-to-peer in nature, as users connect to each other directly to send and receive portions of the file. However, there is a central server (called a tracker) which coordinates the action of all such peers. The tracker only manages connections, it does not have any knowledge of the contents of the files being distributed, and therefore a large number of users can be supported with relatively limited tracker bandwidth. The key philosophy of BitTorrent is that users should upload (transmit outbound) at the same time they are downloading (receiving inbound.) In this manner, network bandwidth is utilized as efficiently as possible. BitTorrent is designed to work better as the number of people interested in a certain file increases, in contrast to other file transfer protocols.

Clone CD
An app used to copy (clone) CDs including copy protected CDs. Can also read from and write to image files. ISO BIN etc

Codecs
Codec stands for COder/DECoder. It is a small piece of software that allows you to make/play movie/audio compressed in a certain format. MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, DivX ... are all codec’s. AVI, ASF, WMV are not codec’s, but file formats. AVI is also a container format , meaning it can be made using many different codec’s. It not a good idea to have too many codec’s installed because you can end up with conflicts and nothing running at all. Much more information can be found from the link below.
Crack
A crack is a small application (app) or program that when applied (run) lets you use the app/game/movie etc as if you were using the full purchased licensed version.
Note 1 Most cracks will only work on the version number of the app they were written for. Occasionally Keygens and Serials work on newer versions and ABEL cracks (a special type of loader) have a learning facility that lets them (sometimes) carry on working over version numbers. This is one reason why an app that was here with a working crack on Monday may be gone Tuesday – The apps authors have changed it slightly and upgraded the version number. – Anyone would think they don’t like Warez
Cracks come in five main types:
Keygens
These provide the registration info needed to access the app. Sometimes this is required before installation (or during it) and sometimes to register the app (so providing unlimited full access) after installing. E.g. WinZip has a Keygen that will allow you to register in your own name after installing. (Over all versions from 6.5 to the new beta 9) Keygens are commonly used.
Patches or Cracks
These crack or alter the exe file of the app concerned and sometimes alter the information in the registry. They are run after installation and in the installation directory where you installed the app concerned. Sometimes they can be run from anywhere because they have the facility to allow you to tell them where that installation directory is located. The crack for Super DVD Ripper 1.9 was a patch. Patches are commonly used.
Loaders
These replace the apps exe with the one supplied. You need to copy the crack to the apps installed directory and use it to start the app. Usually you DO NOT remove the apps own exe although the loader might rename it. E.g. Reget Deluxe 3.3 Its exe is called regetdx.exe but the crack loader supplied is called regetdx_loader.exe and it’s this you use to start the app. Loaders are less common when cracking apps, but are still used, and quite a lot on games.
Serials
These are the supplied registration information needed to crack the app. They might include info such as Name, Company, Reg no etc and must be entered EXACTLY as supplied in the proscribed place. Often cut and paste is the best method but occasionally you need to key in the info given. This may be during or after the apps installation. (Just like Keygens). – The current Alcohol 120% version 1.7 build 1005 retail comes with a serial number. Serials are commonly used – especially with new versions. The crack writers have not had time to design and release a new crack, and software authors learn what is being posted so “Blacklist” that serial to prevent it working in the next version of the app. Serials are commonly used.
Note 2 posting serials on WarezNET is a breach of the rules and will get you a warning (or worse). Links to serials posted elsewhere either as zips or even plain text is allowed.
Reg Cracks
The can be run from anywhere after you install the app. They alter the information the app wrote to the registry. Reg cracks alone are not as common but are still used. Registry Medic had both a loader and a registry crack.
Because sometimes, more than one crack type needs to be applied and in the right order, it is always best to read the NFO {Info} file (usually) supplied with the crack.
